Bogota  Popayan & Ipiales  Otavalo  Quito  Banos  Cuenca  Chiclayo  Trujillo  Huancayo  Huancavelica  Nazca  Cuzco  Machu Picchu

We spent the whole night on the bus from Huancavelica and arrived in Nazca early in the morning, only to find out that the next buses to Cuzco would only leave later in the afternoon...
We had not planned to visit the Nazca archeological site, but since we were there with plenty of time to kill, we decided to pay the price for the planes that fly over the famous Nazca lines, only visible from the air. The price was a bit steep and it was worth it! During half an hour, we flew over the site and observed with admiration these lines traced on the floor centuries ago and which are still a mystery to scientists and archeologists.
The little plane was fast and the pilot maneuvered rather acrobatically... so much that Laura was unable to look down and take photos! And worse... Quentin was sick for the first time in his life on a plane, but only after having taken as many photos as possible! Here they are...

The whale

The trapezoids

The astronaut

The monkey

The dog

The spider

The condor

The hummingbird (colibri)

The parrot

The hands

Following our aerial adventure, we still had a bit of time to spend in Nazca before our next bus so we went into a posh hotel near the bus station and spent the afternoon there, relaxing by the swimming pool. It was also an opportunity to have a shower and sleep a bit more than we had done on our last bus...
Smelling better than we had done for the last couple of days, we got on another night bus, heading to Cuzco. This was the worst bus journey we had had during our whole trip, aboard a full bus stinking of toilets... We're sure you'll understand we would both rather forget about this...
