Machu Picchu was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip. From Cuzco we took a train until Aguas Calientes. It is actually the only way to reach Machu Picchu during the rainy season. We had an early lunch and reached Machu Picchu at a perfect time: it was sunny and there weren’t that many people. We sat right at the top of a hill and admired the ancient ruins, perched on a mountain top, in the middle of nowhere and still incredibly conserved.
The rain then started to pour down but it did not matter that much. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of this place and carried on exploring the huge sight, its many alleys and terrace. We took about 10 million photos and found it hard to leave the place… We finally went back down to the real world, still in a violent rain and warmed ourselves with a couple of hot chocolates while waiting for our train back to Cuzco…
